It's in your eyes
What's on your mind
I fear your smile and the promise inside

"Gabriel..." the harsh whisper and the shaking was the first thing that woke him up so stinken early. "Gabriel... wake up, you idiot..." He blinked open his eyes to see Adair leaning over him, the sun shining behind his head.
Morning already? "Wha-" Gabriel started to ask, sleepily, but Adair clasped a hand over his mouth, silencing him instantly.
"Be. Quiet." Adair hissed between his teeth then shifted into a wolf. Gabriel tried, he honestly did, to be quiet as he slowly sat up and got to half stand half crouch position. He was just getting in a better comfortable position, not really see what the great big deal was when a big loud noise went-
BANG!
The gunshot surprised him so badly that he let out a girly squeak (embarrassing to say the least) and fell backwards onto his butt. It took him a few seconds to realize that the gun hadn't even been aimed at them- that the bullet hadn't even come near them. The evil glare that Adair had aiming at him could have killed if something else hadn't caught his attention.
It's not my fault, Gabriel thought slightly rattled. He scouted forwards a little to hide better in the bushes. Adair could have worried me.
"What was that?" a male voice snapped.
A second, male also, humbled voice went, "What, m'lord?"
Ah man... Gabriel frowned, Just what I need; another excuse for Adair to ditch me. He blew out a puff of air to move his long brown bangs out of his eyes in frustration.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gareth's curious blue eyes stared at her as he took in Ansa's question. Finally, he replied, "Why? What's the big deal?"
"Ryu... was my father's brother," she answered, meeting his gaze, heart pounding. If Ryu was Gareth's great-grandfather that would mean they were related. Ansa's brows lowered as she thought about it; that would mean she would be like some great-aunt-cousin or something to him. Awkward... It had to been Ryu though... It looked like he had been leading the attack and Gareth himself had said his great-grandfather had captured her town. So it had to be- it had to- had to...
"No."
Ansa's eyes dart up in surprise. "What?" she managed to spit out in her shock. How? Why? That wasn't possible. He had to be-
"I'm adopted... He... We aren't related by blood... He was not my family. This family disguises me. They kill and destroy so many people..." His eyes drifted down to the floor. "Like yours... He was evil. This whole family was- is evil. They aren't my family."
The ticking of the clock was the only thing that could be heard between them.
The noise that broke the silence was a ringing bell. Gareth blinked as Ansa jumped. She watched him as he walked over some sort of phone or something and picked it up.
Gareth's voice became formal, stiff, emotionless as he answered. "...Yes... No... Alright..." a nod, "Ok, I'll be right there." Putting the phone back down, he turned to her. "I'll return in about two or so hours. A visitor had arrived and I must go speak to him, understand?"
Ansa's lips parted then closed. A sick feeling in her stomach started to form. Words refused to pass her lips so she just nodded in reply.
"Good," he paused, face softening, "Sorry for sounding so bossy but-"
"It's ok," she interrupted.
He continued as if she hadn't spoken. "But can you stay here?" Ansa nodded, making him smile. "Thank you... Oh! If you need anything just ring the bell," he gestured to a rope that hung from the ceiling near the bed; something she had missed from before. Another nod from her. "Ok well goodbye."
"Bye," she murmured softly, watching him walk out of the room. When the door clicked closed, she jumped into action. Moving quickly, she yanked open the closet doors and walked into it.
The beautiful dresses, shirts and skirts barely registered in Ansa's mind as she pulled down boxes... then threw them to the floor in frustration when it was full of shoes.
She grunted as she took down the last box of what seemed like hundreds and glanced inside; red high heels. Ansa clenched her jaw then chucked them across the room in pure anger.
Nothing! Dang it!
There was a faint knock at the door, causing her to straighten and smooth her dress down. As quickly and as quietly as she could, she shut the walk-in-closet doors.
Another knock, slightly louder this time, and then a female voice goes, "Miss. Ansa, is everything alright?"
Ansa was all prepared to tell the lady, or maid or whatever they call these helpers now, that she had the wrong room, but then she said her name. Letting out a puff of air, she tried to sound sure and in control, "Yes. Everything is fine."
There was a long heavy pause, "Alright, Miss... May I come in?" When Ansa didn't answer the maid explained why, saying she had food and water.
Stomach rumbling at just the thought of food, Ansa gave in, "Ok." The maid entered, pushing the huge wooden (at least it appeared to be wood) door open with her shoulder, with a tray of colourful food in her hands. Ansa didn't even care what it was, she stuffed it down so quickly that she wouldn't be surprised if someone compared her to a dog. Slowly, she put the fork back down beside the plate and expected a look of disguised from the maid... but it never came. The maid's face remembered blank, neutral as she put the container of water down on the small table along with a glass cup.
"May I be excused, Miss?" The maid murmured, picking up the tray, never making eye-contact with her.
Ansa blinked. "Ah... yes?" The maid nodded and bowed respectfully. Spinning around, she walked towards the door but just as she was about to leave, Ansa cried out, "Thank you!"
The maid blinked in surprise. "You're welcome, Miss."
"Please don't call me that."
"Miss?"
'My name is Ansa. You are allowed to use it."
A small smile quirked at the edge of the maid's lips. "Alright... Ansa."
"Thank you."
She nodded, still smiling slightly and closed the door behind her.
Ansa glanced down at her hands. She feverishly hoped that she was making a new friend.
